North Brooklyn Runners (NBR) is a vibrant, volunteer-led running club based in the North Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York. Founded in 2009, the club was created to build a sense of community and motivation among local runners of all abilities. Mission and Community NBR brings together runners from all backgrounds—from beginners to Olympic Trials qualifiers—through a shared passion for the sport and a strong connection to the local neighborhood. The club emphasizes inclusivity, camaraderie, and giving back, with members regularly volunteering for community organizations and local race events. Training and Activities With more than 20 organized runs each week, NBR offers something for everyone: easy runs, long runs, speed workouts, and themed social runs. Whether you're training for your first race or chasing a PR, you'll find the support and structure to meet your goals. Membership and Inclusivity Membership is free and open to all. The club is driven entirely by volunteers and maintained by a strong sense of community spirit. NBR communicates through a member Google Group, where runners can stay up-to-date on schedules and events. Community Engagement Beyond running, NBR hosts social events and community initiatives that foster strong connections both on and off the pavement. It’s more than a run club—it’s a place to grow, connect, and make a difference.
